Rounds & Clapping Music




Rounds and clapping (or non-pitched percussion) music are an excellent way to introduce children to ensemble playing, which is a completely different experience from solo playing.

Clapping / Non-pitched Percussion
Clapping or non-pitched percussion music enables children to concentrate solely on rhythm and tempo, making it easier to listen to one another, and create a complex and stimulating sound.

Rounds
A round enables everyone to play the tune!

Rounds can be practiced in unison, to familiarise children with the melody. The ensemble can then be split into two groups, to start playing one after the other, so that children can concentrate on the familiar melody, but also hear how the tune creates harmonies when played as a round. As confidence grows, the ensemble can be split into three or more groups, the complexity of the harmony and texture increasing with the addition of each separate group.

Music purchased is personalised for your group, so please give details of which instruments will be playing the rounds, so that we can provide transposed parts where necessary.

Jatherinia can compose a piece (or adapt any of their existing pieces) to meet the specific requirements of your ensemble.

Commissioning a piece is not expensive, as the copyright remains the property of Jatherinia Music Unlimited, and the piece will then be added to our library of music for sale. The name of the Commissioner or Dedicatee will also be displayed on all future scores and parts of the piece.
